Location Tracking to Monitor the Position of Mobile Devices

Location Tracking is a robust feature that utilizes global positioning system (GPS) technology to accurately track the physical location of mobile devices. By leveraging the device’s GPS capabilities, administrators can view real-time location data and gather valuable insights into device movements, allowing for effective fleet management and enhanced security.

The Location Tracking feature provides administrators with real-time visibility into the whereabouts of mobile devices. Through the TinyMDM console, administrators can view the current location, as well as historical location data (3 days). This way, they always have up-to-date information on the device’s movements.

In the unfortunate event of a lost or stolen device, administrators can swiftly identify its last known location using Location Tracking. This information aids in the recovery efforts and provides valuable insights for security investigations. Additionally, administrators can remotely lock or wipe the device to safeguard sensitive data and prevent unauthorized access.

You should only use location-based services on company-owned devices. Geolocation is not an option for employees’ personal BYOD devices, and it is disabled by default for business devices. End-users will have to enable location services in order for the companies to track devices. If a user gets geotagged, a mandatory notification will be displayed on its device. Users can check if TinyMDM has the geolocation permission or not from their device’s settings (in fully managed mode).
